Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does Spike Remover operate destructively?

Spike Remover destructively processes files so that the new files do not need to be re-imported into Pro Tools (or other DAW). This means that 'handles' on audio files are also processed. This increases workflow because the there is no need to re-import the audio files or re-open a project or session file.

Why does Spike Remover only support PCM audio files?

Because Audio Editing applications don't work directly in compressed formats. To support this, decompression and recompression would be required, and there could be some argument then as to whether the spike was in the original content, or a compression artifact.
